Two Warsaw women were cited for larcenies after admitting to stealing over a $138 worth of clothes from Walmart in Clinton Tuesday.

Alisha Cooper, 25, of 513 Railroad St., Warsaw, and Tanika M. Chestnutt, 21, of 222 South Cross Road, Warsaw, were given citations after reportedly admitting to taking the items, according to reports from the Clinton Police Department.

The reports note that investigators were called to Walmart, located at 1415 Sunset Ave. in Sampson Crossing, around 8:20 p.m. Tuesday after the store’s crime prevention team noticed two suspects placing clothing in their bags.

Cooper is alleged to have placed $45.37 worth of clothing into her purse while Chestnutt allegedly stuffed $93.17 worth of clothing into a purse and diaper bag before the two attemptedto leave the store.

Once confronted by police and a surveillance tape, both women confessed, were cited and given trial dates of Aug. 31 and released.

According to the North Carolina Department of Corrections, Cooper has three previous convictions — conspiracy, a felony; selling a malt beverage/under 21 (both from August 2006) and operating a vehicle without a license (August 2005).

Chestnutt is not listed.

WOW! They must really have large purses if they stole $138 worth of clothing from Wal-mart. Stealing clothes and selling Schlitz, what progress you've made, Kool-Aidesha.
