A 17-year-old Clinton man is facing serious charges in two separate incidents that allegedly took place last week at his Rena Lane residence and involved minors.
Eduardo Barrera, 17, of 234 Rena Lane, Clinton, was charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor and resisting a public officer after being arrested in his home Friday evening.
According to reports, on Aug. 2, the mother of a 14-year-old reported to police that her daughter had been having a “sexual relationship” with the suspect. Since the girl was a juvenile, the mother filed the report.
Barrera was charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor since the case did not fit the description of a statutory rape, reports show.
Just days later, on Aug. 6, law enforcement officials were at Barrera’s door again searching for a juvenile runaway.
According to reports from the Sampson County Sheriff’s Office, Barrera knowingly hid the unidentified female juvenile at his residence while telling law enforcement officials that she was not there and he didn’t know her whereabouts.
She was later found hiding under his bed.
He was taken into custody Friday at his home, given a $2,500 secured bond and a trial date of Aug. 8.
According to the North Carolina Department of Corrections, Barrera has no previous convictions.
