Man jailed for assault

A 30-year-old Clinton woman was allegedly attacked during a burglary that took place in the early hours of Sunday morning. Her alleged attacker has been jailed.

Taken into custody was Jesus Garcia, 33, of Camp 11, Lot 4, Harvest Lane, Clinton. He was charged with first degree burglary, assault on a female and carrying a concealed weapon after the incident.

The victim received minor injuries in the assault.

According to reports from the Sampson County Sheriff’s Office, the woman reportedly heard a commotion in the back of her home around 3 a.m. Sunday, and as she walked to the back of the home, she was allegedly attacked by Garcia.

Officers believe the suspect broke down the back metal door and frame at the home to gain entry. After the woman surprised the suspect, he is alleged to have taken off running out the door.

The victim called law enforcement and Garcia, said t live next door to the woman, was taken into custody without incident. When he was arrested, deputies discovered he had knife in his possession.

Reports note that the two were acquaintances of each other and both are employed at DL and B Produce, located on Governor Moore Road.

Garcia was placed under a $51,000 secured bond and given a trial date of Aug. 20.

Can't you just smell the irony in this story? A woman is assaulted in her by a man named "Jesus". That, my friends, speaks volumes.
