Robbie Leigh Cobb, 56, of 100 Old Colony Way, Rocky Mount, was charged with unlawful use of a fire alarm Monday morning after officers responded to a 2 a.m. call at Comfort Inn, located at 1412 Sunset Ave., Clinton.
According to reports, Cobb allegedly pulled the fire alarm at the hotel multiple times after she witnessed a cat outside her window that did not move. The woman told police she also heard the sound of galvanized steel fall outside her door, which is why she pulled the fire alarm multiple times.
The woman asked the manager on duty to call 911 so the building was not evacuated. No one was injured in the incident.
Police investigated the woman’s claims and noted that the cat was acting normal and no steel was located outside of her door.
Reports show the woman’s behavior seemed erratic and that she appeared to be under the influence of some type of narcotic. However, Cobb refused medical treatment at the scene.
Police took her into custody, placed her under a $1,000 bond and set her first trial date for Sept. 14.
According to the North Carolina Department of Corrections, Cobb has no prior convictions in the state.
