Mr. Daniel Norwood Hollingsworth, 73, passed away Friday, Dec. 7, 2012 at Wayne Memorial Hospital. Born in Sampson County, he was the son of the late Lonnie Fife and Callie Thelma Thornton Hollingsworth. He was retired from the U.S. Army.

A graveside service with military honors will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, at Wayne Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home.

He is survived by a daughter, Lizzette Hollingsworth-Gunkel of Novi, Mich.; three sisters, Minva Hollingsworth of Goldsboro, Elsie H. Herring of Mt. Olive, and Magdalene Davis of Warrenton, Va.; and two grandchildren, Channelle Hollingsworth, 21 and Vincent Gunkel, 14.
