The Clinton Varsity girls battled the Lady Spartans Friday night, getting a sound 67-24 win, adding to the Horses Friday night wins against the county team.
Starting the night off with an award to Courtney Pearsall, the Horses took this as a great advantage, running onto the court ready to play.
Ending the first quarter with a close score of 11-7, Clinton only allowed Union to get the lead once. Going into the second quarter of the night, the Horses raised their score to 41, while the Spartans were allowed to only a few buckets.
As the second half of the game approached, the Horses gave it all they had to extend their score. Bringing it up to 67 by the end of the game, Clinton had much help by their lead players.
Pearsall scored 18 points; Lexus Simpson, 12 points; Bianca Owens, 10 points; and Deasia Edwards, 4 points.
The Lady Horses now have a record of 6-1 and will play Tuesday against Richlands at 6 at Clinton High School.
Union’s stats were not provided by press time.
