In 2 Timothy 1:7-8, it says “For God hath not given us the {Spirit of Fear}, but of power, and of Love, and of a Sound Mind. Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner, but be thou partakers of the afflictions of the Gospel according to the power of God.”

I want you to understand that “fear” is not of God. Think about it — why would Jesus tell us to “be of good cheer for I have overcome the world” and place “fear” upon us. The devil, as we know, has a plan and it’s to “steal, kill and destroy,” says John 10:10. How can he achieve this plan? He can operate through “fear,” which is your emotions.

Yes, it’s a known fact that we are emotional beings, and that’s not a bad thing; it’s just a true fact. Through our emotions, we face life and all its many challenges that can sometimes create “fear” in a way that cripples our faith in God almighty. The devil has been doing this since the days that Jesus walked on this earth. This verse tells us that fear is a spirit and it’s not of God, so if that be the case then it’s from Satan himself. The devil knows how fear can have you focusing on everything but GOD.

God understands EVERYTHING for he created ALL THINGS, for he knows what power “fear” has over humans, mainly his children. God desires for you and I to walk, talk and live in faith, whereas Satan desires that you and I walk, talk and live in fear. Jesus has given us power and authority through his finite works on the cross to conquer fear.

One of the ways you can overcome fear is by knowing what the Bible says about it. Knowing the word of God which means reading your Bibles for yourself and not depending on others to teach you the word; can help you speak over fear when it arises. Jesus has been good to you, why should you be ashamed of what he has done in your life?

Don’t let fear take away your testimony of how good God has been to you. Walk in Faith, talk in Faith, live in Faith knowing that God moves upon it.
