The Lady Dark Horses walk away with a hard earned win Friday night against the Swansboro Pirates, celebrating a final score of 45-36.
Continuously trading baskets at the game’s start, Clinton finally managed to charge ahead, ending the first period up by just 1 hard-fought point, 12-11.
Coach Chris Owens managed his players wisely, keeping Clinton in the lead for the rest of the night. “We came out flat and we weren’t together to begin with” he said. But after the first quarter, the Lady Dark Horses would not take no as an answer.
With the second quarter score 29-24, Swansboro did not give up yet. Using their star players to their advantage, Swansboro stayed close behind through the second and third quarter. The third quarter had the Lady Horses up 32-28.
Getting a hold of the ball, Clinton’s defense stepped their game up, causing the Horses more chances to score.
“I was proud of our execution and how we won this game, which was by working together as a team” Coach Owens stated.
The Lady Dark Horses will take on the Topsail Pirates Tuesday for a home match at 6 pm.
