An investigation is under way into several crimes reported in the Ivanhoe area over the last few days, incidents that netted a thief or thieves an assortment of items.

Sampson County sheriff’s investigators are currently looking into the matter, but few details on the probe are being released at this time.

Officers do not know yet whether the crimes, all break-ins, are related.

What is known is that three Ivanhoe Road homes were broken into over the weekend and reported to officers Monday.

In the first, Keeshoya Imes reported that someone broke the sliding glass door of her residence to gain entry. Taken during the break-in was a laptop valued at $1,100, an iPad valued at $750, along with assorted men’s and women’s jewelry valued at $2,000.

A total $1,000 damage was reported to the door.

Grendle Graham, also of Ivanhoe Road, reported to officers that someone broke out of the glass in his home and gained entry. Nothing was reported stolen in the incident and no damage estimates were provided.

And finally, Lewis Imes of Ivanhoe Road, reported that someone broke through the sliding glass door of his residence and took a 12-gauge shotgun valued at $350, assorted men’s and women’s jewelry valued at $5,000, a fireproof safe valued at $100, a camcorder valued at $900, a rifle valued at $400 and a camera valued at $400.

Damage to the door was estimated at $1,000.

Sheriff’s Capt. Eric Pope said an investigation into all three incidents was under way.
