A suspect wanted since September on a breaking and entering charge was located in Garland earlier this month, but didn’t want to come quietly when law enforcement officers attempted to arrest him.
Larry Denny Boykin Jr., 27, 10290 Garland Hwy., Garland, had to be tased before officers could take him into custody and charge him with a Sept. 7 break-in of a Sampson County home. According to reports, officers located Boykin on Third Street in Garland on Jan. 18, but when the suspect saw the officers, he made an attempt to flee. Officers tased him and then made the arrest, charging the Sampson man with three felonies — breaking and entering, larceny after breaking and entering and possession of stolen goods.
Reports, filed Tuesday, Jan. 29, show that Boykin was charged with a break-in at 112 Vasquez Lane, Clinton that occurred on Sept. 7, 2012. In the incident, a ladder and an extension cord were taken.
Through investigation, Sheriff’s Capt. Eric Pope said, Boykin was determined to be the suspect and warrants were obtained for his arrest.
He was placed in the Sampson County Detention Center under a $16,500 bond. His first court appearance is scheduled for Feb. 14.
