The Clinton-Sampson Chamber of Commerce is a part of Sampson County with a mission to preserve the competitive enterprise system of business and to promote business, community growth and development. In order to promote business, community growth, and development, we promote and support economic programs. Those programs are designed to strengthen and expand the income potential of all businesses within the trade area. The Chamber also promotes civic, social, and cultural programs which are designed to increase the functional and aesthetic values of the community. Expanding further, we strive to discover and correct abuses which prevent the promotion of business expansion and community growth.

As we look at the programs designed to strengthen and expand the income potential of all businesses, we see an array of activity throughout Sampson County. From opportunities to gain educational knowledge to programs such as a festivals and other event, each strengthes and expands the income potential of all businesses. Such large scale events bring additional revenue from attendees outside the county, creating an economic impact. Each program has its own opportunity and each is designed specifically to, again, strengthen and expand the income potential of all businesses.

The Clinton-Sampson Chamber of Commerce is excited to be a part of the 4th Annual Sampson County Super Sprint consisting of a 250-yard pool swim, 7 mile bike, and 2 mile run. This year’s event on March 23, 2013 is a joint effort of The Center for Health + Wellness and the Fitness Renaissance program, which serves approximately 4,000 children in Clinton and Sampson County schools. All proceeds for this year’s event will go to support this local program that seeks to combat childhood obesity.

The 7 mile bike and 2 mile run is strategically placed in order to showcase downtown Clinton as well as the area’s restaurants, services, and retail stores. The local economic impact of such an event is vast. Last year, with 243 participants, 70 percent were from outside of Sampson County and 54 percent traveled more than 51 miles to participate. With such an event, hotels are filled, restaurants are full, and retail stores are shopped. The local economic impact is shared amongst those within the county, supporting our local economy.
