A probe is under way into what is being called a suspicious fire that occurred Saturday night on Norris Road in Garland. No serious damage was reported and no one was injured.
The fire was detected after Patricia Faircloth, who lives on Norris Road, reported to Sampson County sheriff’s officers that she observed two people running from her yard around 7:30 p.m. Saturday. When she went outside to further investigate, she discovered a small area of grass and two smiall pine trees had been burned.
The suspects, she told officers, ran from her yard toward Norris Road. She could not provide a descriptions of the two.
The fire was contained to that area and no other damage was reported. Officers are continuing to search for information in the case.
