Sampson Middle’s young Lady Horses are heading into the final games of the season next week with a perfect 10-o record, secured Thursday when they defeated Hobbton Middle School 25-13.
Although Sampson got into foul trouble early, head coach Jamie Harper said they were able to bounce back and play solid defense.
“We got out of it and got back to playing good defense, which helped us hold Hobbton,” Harper noted.
She also praised the girls for continued strong play and team work, noting that they passed the ball well and were unselfish in their play.
“It was just another all-around good job by my girls. I was pleased with their effort throughout the game.”
Mikayla Boykin led scoring for Sampson with 17 points. Alson scoring were Kiera Mabrey, Edye Carr, Regan Barefoot and Raven Johnson, all with 2 points each.
Sampson has two games left this season — a Monday game Roseboro-Salemburg Middle and Thursday in a rematch with Hobbton in Wildcat country.
