DUNN — New Century Bank has named Trevor S. Smith as assistant vice president and city executive for Clinton, announced William L. Hedgepeth II, president and chief executive officer. As city executive, Smith will serve the bank’s current Clinton customers, develop relationships with new consumer and business customers—with a special focus on customers in agriculture, and serve as the bank’s liaison to the Clinton and Sampson County community.

“Trevor has been a great addition to the New Century team,” Hedgepeth said. “With a strong connection to this area as both a Harnett County native and as a graduate of Campbell University, he is just what we look for in a bank and community leader. Our customers and the Clinton community will benefit from his service.”

Smith joined New Century Bank in November 2011 and has worked in both the Dunn and Clinton markets as a commercial lender. He is from Lillington and is a 2009 graduate of Campbell University, where he received a degree in business. In the community, he has served the Dunn Area Chamber of Commerce, the Town of Lillington’s Parks and Recreation Department, and the Harnett County Board of Realtors. In addition to commercial lending, he has experience as a real estate agent. Smith and his fiancé, Lynn Sasser, will marry in April 2013.

On his new role as city executive, Smith said, “I am looking forward to learning even more about Clinton and Sampson County. Growing up in this area, choosing to stay in the area for college, and coming from a farming family, I believe I have a lot to offer to our customers and to the community and appreciate the opportunity to demonstrate that.”

New Century Bank, a wholly-owned subsidiary of New Century Bancorp (NASDAQ: NCBC), is headquartered in Dunn with offices in Dunn, Clinton, Fayetteville (2), Goldsboro, Lillington, Lumberton, and Loan Production Offices in Greenville and Raleigh, all in North Carolina.
