Clinton’s Lady Horses scored a huge home win over conference rival Swansboro Friday night, shutting out the visitors 3-0.

The win gave Clinton their first-ever home victory over their long-time nemesis.

“Tonight was a great win against a very talented team,” said Dark Horse coach Jeff Smith. “Swansboro is 5th in the state so it was great beating them.”

Clinton, currently ranked 8th in the state, had 6 shots on goal; Swansboro had 4. Swansboro had 9 corner kicks to Clinton’s 5.

Margaret Coleman put the Lady Horses on the board first, scoring a goal with an assist from Lindsey Bass.

Hannah Smith dropped in the next goal with an assist from Lexi Valenti, and Alayna Capps added the final goal with an assist from Hannah Smith.

The Lady Horses return to the field next Tuesday when they travel to Croatan for another conference matchup.
