A Clinton man found himself in trouble with law enforcement after a call of a suspicious person and a fleeing four-wheeler led them to him Monday afternoon.

Elwin G. Jordan, 45, of 75 Shipp Road, Clinton, was jailed under a $31,500 bond and charged with felony possession of a meth precursor, resist, delay and obstruct a public officer and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.

He was taken into custody after officers were called to Shipp Road around 4 p.m. Monday in reference to a suspicious person near the cell phone tower in that area.

According to Cpl. Marcus Smith, members of the sheriff’s Special Investigations Division were in the area when the call came in and responded. As they approached, they noticed a four-wheeler and a car parked near the tower, but as they came closer, the four-wheeler fled.

Another officer was on King Road, which is near Shipp Road, heard the call of the four-wheeler fleeing and stopped it a short time later, taking Jordan into custody.

Seized from the suspect’s possession was 40 dosage units of pseudoephedrine, a drug often used in the manufacture of methamphetamine.

The female inside the vehicle on Shipp Road was charged on citation with simple possession of marijuana and released at the scene.

Smith said an investigation was continuing.

Great. Another loser who closes his eyes when a mug shot is taken.
