Clinton’s girls got another soccer shutout Tuesday, this one a road win over a very competitive Croatan. Final score was 1-0.
The match was hard-fought from the start, a pure defensive effort from both teams from the opening whistle until the final buzzer sounded.
The match was scoreless until late in the second half when Clinton’s Hannah Smith got her foot into the ball, landing it in the goal and giving the Lady Horses the lead at 1-0.
Croatan attempted a late-game scoring attempt, but quick defense on Clinton’s end of the ball thwarted those efforts and the Dark Horse girls held on for the conference win.
Clinton, ranked eighth in the state, is 2-0 in conference play and 4-1 overall.
They travel to Cape Fear for a game Friday.
