Sampson County Parks & Recreation’s All-stars participated in the SWAC (Statewide Athletics Committee) All-star tournament over the weekend of March 8-10. SCPR had three teams represent the county; 12U Girls, 12U Boys, and 16U Boys. The 12U Girls team played in Havelock, the 12U Boys team played in Onslow County, and the 16U Boys played in Spring Lake.

Over the past few years SCPR has been participating in SWAC All-stars, and each year the excitement has grown. This year was just the same. Sampson County natives flooded the tournament sites and showed tremendous support for the participants. “All-star Tournaments are growing into one of our sports program’s highlights. Everyone looks forward to it, staff, players and parents,” stated recreation officials.

The excitement poured onto the court as the players played their hearts out. Each of the teams played well, and displayed great skill and heart.

“We (SCPR) are extremely proud of those we’ve sent to represent our county, both players and coaches,” recreation officials stated. “This has been a successful basketball season from beginning to end, and our All-stars really put an exclamation point on things! Great job!”
