CLINTON — Mrs. Lena Matthews, 61, of 305 E. Carter St., died Wednesday, Aug. 15, at Mary Gran Nursing Center in Clinton.

Lena was born April 12, 1951 in Sampson county to the late Lloyd Matthews and Gennie Mae Brunson Matthews. She worked as supervisor in food service at Heritage Care Nursing Center. She was preceded in death by a brother, James Matthews.

A home going service will be held 2 p.m., Sunday Aug. 19 at Andrew Chapel Missionary Baptist Church with pastor Gerald Underwood officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

She leaves to cherish her memories, daughter, Sholanda Dawson of Clinton; son, Jason Matthews of Dunn; brothers, Chevis (Jessie)Matthews, Glenwood Matthews, Lloyd Matthews Jr. (Elaine) all of Clinton; sisters, Geraldine Lane of Clinton, and Hazel Whitted (Dock)of Clinton.

A public viewing will be held from 2-5 p.m., Saturday Aug. 18, at Hope Valley Funeral Service & Cremation of Clinton and other times at the home 305 E. Carter. St.
