CLINTON — Mrs. Julia Catherine Starling, 81, of 408 Inverness Road, died in Sampson Regional Medical Center, Thursday, Dec. 27, 2012.

A private graveside service was held Saturday in the Clinton Cemetery.

A memorial service was held at 11 a.m., Saturday at First Baptist Church, 408 College St., with the Rev. Charles Allard officiating.

Born in 1931 in Duplin County, Mrs. Starling was the daughter of the late Paul and Nancy Faircloth Britt. She was a member of First Baptist Church and a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years, William L. “Billy” Starling; two sons, William J. “Bill” Starling and wife, Alta of Clinton and P. Britt Starling M.D. and wife, Donna of Wilmington; five grandchildren, Joel, Britt, Michael, Catherine “Kitty” and Julia “Jules Starling; and one great-granddaughter, Elizabeth Ann Starling.

The family received friends following the memorial service in the sanctuary.
