TURKEY — Ella Mae Stanley peacefully departed from this world on Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013 to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Attended by her loving family and the angels at the SECU Hospice House of Smithfield, her final days were comfortable and memorable.

The funeral will be held Saturday, Jan. 5, at Royal-Hall Funeral Home in Clinton. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., followed immediately by the service in the chapel. David Langley of St. Mary’s Grove OFWB Church in Benson will preside. A cemetery service will be held at Wayne Memorial Park in Goldsboro. She will be dearly missed, but we must celebrate her eternal life in heaven. She will forever be remembered as a loving friend, sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother.

Ella was born July 12, 1927 in Sampson County to Walter Cleveland and Millie Ella Baker. She is the third of nine children. She was preceded in death by Mable Stanley, Walter Baker, Jr. and Richard Baker, all of Four Oaks, Luther Baker of Smithfield, and James “Dick” Baker of Turkey.

Surviving siblings include Willie Baker of Turkey, Ruby Winders of Clinton, and Annie Pearl “Cricket” Denson of Buies Creek. Ella was married to Roby Stanley (d. Aug 20, 1975) of Four Oaks. She has two daughters, Elizabeth “Susie” Stanley and Yolanda Peterson, both of Dunn. She was blessed with four grandchildren, Henry Crocker (w. Wanda) of Four Oaks, Lisa Lee (h. Gene) and Nancy Lee (h. DeLeon), of Meadow, and Phillip Crocker of Dunn. Her legacy continues with nine great-grandchildren, Patrick, Tyler and Nixon Crocker, Misty Nelson, Robbie and Emily Lee, Amber and Tristan Lee and Caitlin Crocker. She also adored her two great-great-grandchildren, Rayne and Sunnie Nelson. Ella was also blessed with a loving extended family. Her long time friend and companion Ish Thompson (d. May 20, 2008) and Noel Thompson, who was as good to her as any daughter could be.
