CLINTON — Mr. Carl Thomas (Tommy) Earp, 67, of 710 College St., passed away at Sampson Regional Medical Center Monday, Jan. 21, 2013.

Tommy was born in 1945 in Wake County to the late Jake and Lucille Stephenson Earp, and was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving in the U.S Army at Ft. Bragg. He retired after 28 years from the North Carolina Department of Transportation as supervisor over Highway Maintenance and wasa number one N.C. State Wolfpack fan who also loved beach music and shagging, He was preceded in death by a brother, Waddell Earp.

A celebration of Tommy’s life will be held at 7 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 23, at Serenity Baptist Church, 8994 Garland Hwy., with the Rev. Jimmy Flowers officiating. Burial will be held 11 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 24, at Grandview Memorial Gardens, U.S. 421 north of Clinton with military honors.

Tommy leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Erma Potter Earp of the home; daughter, Christie Hunter of Clinton; step-son, Robert Hobbs of Williamsburg Va.; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends after the funeral at Serenity Baptist Church.

The Tommy Earp Family would like to thank Dr. Pal and the staff at Sampson Regional Medical Center for the love and care shown to their family.
