CLINTON — Ms. Sallie Harrell Sutton Daughtry, 103, of 503 Beaman St., died Monday, Jan. 28, 2013 at Sampson Regional Medical Center in Clinton.

She is survived by her daughter, Shirley Oates; daughters-in-law, Carolyn Sutton and Linda Hyatt; son-in-law, George Sutton; grandchildren, Judy Witherington (Ty), Pam Sutton, Lynn King (David), Cheryl New (Jerry), Carol Sutton, Chris Sutton and Woody Sutton; great-grandchildren, Chris Witherington (Tracey), Jeff Witherington, William Carr, Justin King, Zach King, Kristin New, Paige New, Emily Sutton, Aaron Sutton and Holly Oates-Barker (Will); two great-great grandchildren.

Including her husbands, Festus Sutton, former sheriff of Sampson County, and Cecil Daughtry, she was preceded by her children, Festus “Charlie” Sutton, Carlese Herring (James Grady), Curtis Sutton; son-in-law, Harold Oates; grandson, Curtis Ray Oates; great-grandson Lee Carr; parents, James Rufus Harrell Sr. and Metta McClenny Harrell; brothers, James Harrell, Milford Harrell, James Rufus Harrell Jr., Gertha Harrell; sisters, Mamie Sutton, Mae Sutton, Lula King, Ellen King and Margaret Harrell; step-children, Raymond Sutton (Bertha), Harvey Sutton (Pearl), Maggie Best (Red), Della Wilson (Tom), Katie Bradshaw (Edgar), Coleen Daniels (Jack), Annie Lou Coombs (Tom) and Rochelle Sutton.

Ms. Daughtry was a homemaker, farmer, retailer, dietician and property manager. She retired from Sampson Regional Medical Center and Daughtry’s Mobile Home Park. She was the last living charter member of Grace United Methodist Church and was honored as Woman of Year by the United Methodist Women for her dedicated, tireless and loving service.

Her funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 30, at Grace United Methodist Church, 800 Smith St., by the Rev. Allen Gibson. Interment will immediately follow at the family cemetery in Suttontown.

Ms. Daughtry’s family will receive friends 6 – 8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 29, at Crumpler-Honeycutt Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial gifts be made to Grace United Methodist Church Building Fund, 800 Smith Street, Clinton, NC 28328.

Arrangements are by Crumpler-Honeycutt Funeral Home, 118 Fayetteville St., Clinton.
