Tim’s Gift Jesus Dollar Mission

First of three parts

It was a sunny spring day in 2016 when the front door opened at Tim’s Gift and a dear friend, Wanda, came bearing a gift that would bring blessings we never expected. She handed me a dollar bill with a “J” on it and promised more Jesus dollars would come to bless Tim’s Gift. She explained how her church collected Jesus dollars which generated enough money to build a fellowship hall. We thanked her for coming and challenging us to collect Jesus dollars. Then, we all prayed together.

Four weeks later, UPS delivered a large package to Tim’s Gift. As I signed for the package, curiosity consumed me. Tearing into the package like children at Christmas…Jennifer, Diane, and I were overwhelmed with precious gifts and a letter of explanation.

Kristin Burnette’s letter shared about her battle with heart disease and a trip to the Mayo Center in Minnesota for a heart transplant. Kristin spent many months recovering and thinking of what she could do to help people across America. She prayed for a ministry to help in each of the fifty states. When Kristin researched North Carolina nonprofits that help people in need, she came across Tim’s Gift Inc. in Clinton, N.C.!

The large box on the prayer table plus Kristin’s letter left Jennifer and myself in awe. Finally, I tore into the package and pulled several special gifts and a letter from Kristin.

“Dear friends at Tim’s Gift in Clinton, N.C., I hope this package helps you help others and brings joy to your ministry. I just returned home after months of recovery from my heart transplant. The mission God put on my heart was sending a blessing package to one nonprofit in each state. When Kristin searched through the N’s…Tim’s Gift Inc. in North Carolina popped up and was immediately my choice for the NC non-profit to partner with. “

In next week’s column, we will share the rest of this amazing story!
