Everyone has a story

Everyone has a story including our employees at Mary Gran Nursing and Rehabilitation.

Dedicated, faithful, and dependable are all words that describe Cathy Merritt. Cathy has been with Mary Gran since June 25, 1975. She was our 13th employee. She was instrumental in moving patients from the small brick house owned by Granville and Mary Wallace to our current location.

Cathy lives in Rose Hill and drives to Clinton every day for work. She has been married for 35 years and has three children, six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She attends New Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Magnolia, the same church she attended as a child.

Her favorite part of working at the facility is the patients. She treats them like family. This loving, family-like atmosphere makes the thought of retiring dreadful.

When she is not working she enjoys reading and frequent trips to the library. She also enjoys babysitting her grandchildren and attending church.

Beverly Tysinger, business office manager, had this to say about Cathy, “I have worked with Cathy for 20 years. She is truly an inspiration and an asset to Mary Gran. She loves her residents and always has a smile for everyone she meets”.

Karen Carter, admissions director, says, “Cathy is always a team player and a pleasure to work with.”

Where I come from, they would call Cathy, “good people.”

Cathy’s advice and personal life motto is, “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” Mary Gran is blessed to have Cathy Merritt as one of our employees.
