Greetings! What a blessing it is to write, share my feelings and ideas with others. I love it! Sometimes when I write, it’s like I’m talking face to face with my readers. As I proof read my articles, I think, well I write just like I carry a conversation. Jumping from topic to topic, but that’s me — that’s the best I can be, whether talking, writing, or working. So please accept me as I am.

I was so blessed on Friday as we had a spur of the moment birthday party for our own beloved, Clara Robinson. Her birthday was June 5, but we kinda thought she needs more than cake and ice cream. She had a great day, with much tears and laughter. We love each and every one of our dear seniors and appreciate them all for being their genuine selves.

We hope that our reading audience will visit Facebook and read the Garland Senior Center Events Group news provided by Garland volunteers and myself. We have included our lunch menu, special programs, whatever we deem important. Thank you to our anonymous volunteers for their hard and dedication.

Upcoming events: We will be having a psychological memory study being conducted by staff from UNCW on June 13 and we will let y’all know the results. On June 18 there will be a Medicaid Medicare Seminar at Roseboro Nutrition Site from 10-11 a.m. Then they will be at the Garland Senior Center from 1-2 p.m. Come out and get the info. Don’t get caught up in fraud. Learn the facts, be prepared. June the 17 we will be having a Fun Day sponsored by our friends from United Health Care Insurance Company starting at 10 a.m.

Daily, we have devotion, games, and the sewing room is open. A new game we have started, chair BINGO exercise is very fun and keeps our seniors moving. Mobility equals longevity and improves quality of life. Please join us for fun, fellowship and lunch. Lunch may not always look good, but it’s good for you.

It’s getting to be garden time. If you have good recipes, send them to us. How to can sweet pickles, watermelon preserves, and chow chow. Whatever you have we are interested in reading about it and trying all of your delicious recipes out in Granny’s Kitchen here at Garland Senior Center. Send it by email to [email protected] or mail it to us at Marie Faircloth, 91 North Church Ave., Garland, N.C. 28441.

Our goal is to have the most information, be the most helpful, and have the best consumer service in the county. Love, smile — make every individual feel special. Together we stand, divided we fall — Live, Love and Laugh — The Bible says that laughter is good for the soul. “The start of a quarrel is like a leak in a dam so stop it before it bursts…..” Proverbs 17:14. “The one who plants and the one who waters work as a team with the same purpose. Yet they will be rewarded individually, according to their own hard work……” 1 Corinthians 3:8. “For the Lord takes delight in His people; He crowns the humble with salvation…” Psalms 149:4. “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me…” Phil. 4:13.
