Under the Shade Tree

Greetings I hope everyone is enjoying this nice weather. This is the day the Lord has made, let us be glad and rejoice in it. Remember everything comes to you in the right moment. “Be patient.” God always has our back, no matter what the situation, He’s right on time. I read this quote early this morning, “When you focus on your problems, you will have more problems. When you focus on the possibilities you will have more opportunities.” Try this and see! There is power in positivity.

As I write this morning, so many things are going through my mind. How important it is to make memories. How short time is. How important it is to spend time with family, because life is like vapor. Here, then suddenly it’s gone. It is up to us to make sure we spend every moment wisely. Help someone as we go along, then our living won’t be in vain.

Upcoming events

We are in the fundraising mode. Our first shot will be a Fun Game Night at the center. A small fee will be charged. Please support this cause. Out tentative date is Aug. 9, 6-9 p.m. BINGO, snacks and much more! The funds raised will be used to send our folk to the state finals for Senior Games. So far we have three people that qualified for finals in Raleigh. Let’s cheer them on to victory!

Ms. Eve Black will be at the Garland Senior Center on July 10 with lots of fun and educational stuff. She will play BINGO and do a presentation around 10 a.m. Come join us! We are in need of BINGO prizes. Remember to look around your house. You may have stuff you don’t need or want anymore. One man’s junk is another man’s treasure. We look to get some BINGO prizes from our readers, friends, and neighbors. Thanks so much in advance for all you will do.

As I sit here at the poles today, waiting for people to vote in the runoff, I realize just how important it is to vote. That’s an honor; to be able to vote. There was a time when certain people couldn’t vote, so I count it as an honor.

Our sympathy goes out to the family of Shirley Monk. Ms. Monk was a long time member of the Butler Court Nutrition Site. Her smile was contagious. She lost her life in a tragic accident on Saturday, June 23. Keep the family in prayer.

By the time you read this article you will be getting ready for the 4th of July. Enjoy your day. Enjoy family. Be careful. Make memories under the shade tree of life. Share memories. Live, Love & Laugh!
