The Just-A-Mere Garden Club began a new club year with its September meeting. Hostess Dixie Honeycutt held the meeting at her home Sept. 3. The hostess was assisted by daughters Ginger Johnson and Angela Warren. There were 10 members present for the meeting.
President Dixie Honeycutt welcomed back members from the summer and recognized birthdays from the summertime and for September. Together all read the collect to begin the meeting.
Rachel Edwards presented the devotion. She encouraged the ladies to live in an attitude of contentment in the season of life that one is in. Just as one longs for a time in the future, one should live in the present season of life.
The program was by Beverly Best, first vice president and program chairman, who led the preview of the 2019-2020 yearbook and added details as necessary. The business meeting was then conducted.
Information on the District 8 meeting at Erwin’s Indigo Room was announced. Dates were given for DOT’s Litter Sweep, a roadside cleanup program.
Martha Turner won a potted yellow mum in the hostess gift drawing.
The meeting closed with the reading of the motto.
Delicious refreshments were served afterwards. Chocolate delight, ham and cheese sliders, a cheeseball and crackers, fall candy, toasted pecans, peanuts and assorted soft drinks were enjoyed.
