Hello readers! It’s such a beautiful day and I’m so thankful for this day that the Lord has made!

I’ve been out of sorts with my recent injury and am doing my best to rest and get well. I’m healing more by the day, slowly but surely. I’m so limited to what I can do now since my hands are hurt, but I’m staying patient and persistent. Staying at home and resting is becoming so monotonous. I can understand where the old saying, “cabin fever” came from. It’s hard not to use my hands, but with the guidance of God and all the help from my family and friends, all things are possible.

I’ll be returning to my job and it doesn’t seem like that day can come soon enough! I’m so ready to get out and do stuff, y’all — working to help others and the community. Be grateful for all the obstacles and in your life. They will strengthen you as you continue on your journey. These are the words I always have to remind myself of and remember there’s a reason for every season in life that we’re blessed to see. Just waking up in the morning is a blessing and one we should be so thankful for. In life we’re faced with many obstacles and challenges. It always seems as though we have the most things to overcome when we’re on the right path and doing good things. We can’t lose focus when it comes to our goals and push forward having Faith and strength.

Our friends from Sampson County Diagnostic Center will be coming out for our annual blood drive on Oct. 17, from 10:30 until 3 p.m. I’d like to encourage you all to come out and lend your arms and give some blood. We never know when we’ll need a blood donor for ourselves or family members. Give a little because every little bit counts! For more information, call us at 910-529-3931.

We’ll be making our way to Raleigh to enjoy the North Carolina State Fair on Tuesday, Oct. 22. There will be a $5 transportation fee and the van will be leaving at 7 a.m. sharp. Mark your calendars and call to reserve a seat today because seating is limited. Come enjoy the fair with us that day because it’s going to be so much fun! For more information please call 919-529-3931. We look forward to hearing from you all soon!

Pedro Bueno from Telamon Corporation introduced us to Ms. Vanessa Hernandez several months ago and she’s been here helping out ever since. She’s a delight and a pleasure, with a gorgeous smile and lovely disposition as she wears many hats. As the mother of four small children, Ms. Hernandez is focusing on improving her job skills to help ensure a better future for her family. Vanessa goes above and beyond as she juggles her many duties as an office assistant here at Garland Senior Center. Thank you Vanessa for all you do as a shining star at Garland Senior Center.

In this very moment I’d like to thank all my family, friends and coworkers who’ve been my hands and feet in my time of injury. I appreciate you all so much. A special thank you to volunteer Mary Smith for helping me with my article in a time when I can hardly feed myself, much less write. I feel so blessed to have all my angels here to help me in my time of need. Thank you all!

As always, live, laugh and love without limits!
