A pair of Sampson County men remained behind bars Monday following their arrest last week on multiple unrelated crimes involving felony firearm possession, fleeing arrest, larceny and a slew of other charges. Combined their bonds totaled over $100,000.
Dustin Lane Carr
Carr, 29, of of 626 W. 2nd St., Garland, was taken into custody after Sampson County Sheriff’s officers apprehended him for possessing a firearm as a felon, resulting in a bond of $120,000.
According to Sheriff’s reports, on Saturday, Jan. 26, deputies responded to a call of a man possessing a gun in the Garland area. Officers received a description of the suspect and began investigations. They reportedly observed a man, who matched the description, walk into a store on E. Front Street that same day.
When they confronted the individual, reports show deputies were able to identify Carr as the suspect. They located 9mm ammunition in his possession. Through further investigation on the scene, deputies stated they were able to locate and recover a Glock pistol from inside the store in which Carr had been spotted.
He was arrested and charged with three counts of felony possession of a firearm by a felon, habitual felony and larceny of a firearm. Carr was placed in the Sampson County Detention Center and is currently awaiting a first appearance in court.
Billy Joe Faircloth
A failed initiation of a traffic stop in Clinton led to the arrest of Faircloth, 39, of 1791 Taylors Bridge Hwy, Clinton, who fled the scene, leading to a chase that ended in his capture and a bond of $43,000.
Faircloth was identified, Thursday, Jan. 23, by a deputy, traveling on Hwy 421, who reportedly observed and knew Faircloth who was, at that time, operating a black Honda Accord. Deputy reports show Faircloth was known to have multiple outstanding warrants for his arrest on felony larceny.
When the deputy spotted a suspect believed to be Faircloth, he initiated a traffic stop, but Faircloth refused to pull over, leading to a chase. Deputies pursued Faircloth until his Honda eventually stopped. He then ran from the vehicle into a wooded area near Brody Drive in Fayetteville, reports show
Faircloth was located and taken into custody a short time later. He was charged with felony flee/elude arrest with a motor vehicle, reckless driving with wanton disregard, driving while license revoked, resisting public officer and multiple other driving charges related to the chase.
Faircloth was also placed in the Sampson County Detention Center and was also awaiting his first appearance in court Monday.
