Local L.C. Kerr principal, Jennifer Pop, made a visit to Belk department store in Clinton, where the store manager, Lorane Phillips, gave a check in the amount of $669.44 as part of the store’s holiday fundraising campaign called Angel Days.

Angel Days provided customers an opportunity to support local elementary schools through direct contributions at local Belk stores. The Clinton Belk location donated 100 percent of its proceeds from the program to Langdon C. Kerr Elementary, and the funds are to be used to support the needs of the School.

“It is so nice when our local community supports our students and assist in gaining more resources,” Pope said.

As part of the Angel Days program, local Belk customers donated to the program throughout the month of December. For a $1 contribution, customers received an ornament to place on the Belk angel tree in the store. For a $5 contribution, customers received an ornament for the angel tree and in exclusive angel pin.

“Belk has a longstanding commitment to the communities we serve, and this program gives us a way to raise thousands of dollars for our local schools,” said Jessica Graham, vice president of communications and community relations at Belk. “We wanted to offer customers a way to participate in the giving season, not just through shopping, but through giving back to their local communities.”
