The RSMS band recently performed its spring concert.

The Roseboro-Salemburg Middle School Chorus and Band performed their spring concert on May 14 in the RSMS gymnasium.

The chorus sang “How Can I Keep from Singing?” by Greg Gilpin; “Amazing Grace,” arr. by Linda Steen Spevacek; “Forever Motown,” arr. by Roger Emerson; and “You’ll Never Walk Alone” arr. by Johnny Mann. The Roseboro-Salemburg Middle School Chorus is a combined chorus of seventh and eighth grade students. The chorus is 97 members strong. It is directed by David Riska, who came to the school in March 2015. The chorus was previously directed by Jennifer Matthews, who has taught in Sampson County for over 30 years.

The audience also had the pleasure of listening to the RSMS bands. They are under the direction of Chris Pittman. Both sixth grade and seventh and eighth grade bands performed. The sixth grade band’s selections were “Creatures in the Attic,” “Gentle Winds,” “Arena of the Gladiators,” and “Little Rondo for Band.” The seventh and eighth grade band performed “Afterburn,” “Festive Toccatta,” “Plight of the Bumbling Bee,” “The Army Goes Rolling Along,” and “Music from ‘Cars.’” Pittman received numerous compliments on the bands’ performance and was extremely proud of the students’ hard work this year.
