More than 100 charges result from checkpoint

All hands were on deck Saturday, as the Sampson County Sheriff’s Office conducted a Driving While Impaired (DWI) checkpoint.

The checkpoint occurred from 8 p.m. to midnight, stretching to Greenpath Road, North Springbranch, and Harnett Dunn Highway. Onslow County, Pender County, Brunswick County, Smithfield and Clinton Police Department, along with the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, took part in the operation, with the goal of identifying those that were impaired and ensuring safety on the highways. North Carolina’s Forensic Test for Alcohol also assisted by providing the Breath Alcohol Testing unit. In total, 121 charges were issued out.
