Though a three-car wreck occurred on Hobbton Highway outside Newton Grove Friday night, no injuries were reported as a result of the collisions.
According to a Highway Patrol report, two vehicles operated by Oscar Ortez of Warsaw and Kayla Jordan of Raleigh were traveling north on US Hwy 701. Meanwhile, a third vehicle, operated by Armando Fransisco of Newton Grove was headed south on the highway. In an attempt to pass and overtake traffic, Ortez crossed the center line and collided head-on with the vehicle operated by Fransisco. Following this, Ortez re-entered the northbound lane and collided with Jordan’s vehicle.
After the initial impact, Ortez’s vehicle traveled off the roadway completely and collided with a ditch. Fransisco’s vehicle traveled off the roadway to the right and Jordan’s vehicle crossed the center line and left the highway. After this, Jordan’s vehicle also collided with a ditch, which caused it to flip over and land on its roof.
Following this, State Highway Patrol investigated the scene. During their investigation, patrol officers confirmed that no major injuries were caused as a result of the wreck.
As of press time, no further details on the accident have been provided.
