Clinton officials to meet with Eastover Terrace managers

Clinton’s mayor, police chief and city manager will meet Wednesday with East Carolina Regional Housing Authority officials to address “serious concerns” they have about a shooting that occurred at Eastover Terrace Apartments on March 30.

The Housing Authority manages the apartment complex where three men were shot last week.

Ricardo Ramesy, 20, of Wallace, was arrested Tuesday and charged with three felony counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, six counts of discharging a weapon into an occupied dwelling and discharging a firearm within the city limits, all offenses connected to the March 30 shooting.

At the start of tonight’s City Council meeting, Clinton Mayor Lew Startling addressed the shooting that wounded the three men.

“We’re going to meet with them tomorrow and express our concerns about the way they are operating these facilities,” Starling said. “It’s my understanding that the victims and the shooter were not residents there, which is a violation of the lease.”

Starling said the city has maintained a good relationship with the company up to this point, even providing additional police.
