Chamber activities keep director busy

It has been a busy week here at the Chamber of Commerce. From meetings with prospective new members, leadership committee meetings, Young Professional meetings and even Christmas in the City meeting, it has been an absolute wonderful experience thus far.

I can look back on my first three weeks with the Chamber and smile with great honor to be a part of such a wonderful organization and community. The last three weeks have been mainly a learning experience, which brings me to something very important that I have discovered about the Chamber.

I could come up with a thousand of words that might be able to describe the Clinton-Sampson Chamber of Commerce, however, only one seems to come to mind, and that word would be “family.” The Sampson county community has demonstrated what it really means to be a family, and the amount of gratitude I feel from the Chamber Family is astonishing.

“The Chamber of Commerce serves as a voice for the county and surrounding area businesses, uniting those who realize that through the Chamber they can accomplish collectively what no one of them can do individually. The Chamber works to build and maintain productive relationships with the business community by implementing programs that enhance the quality of life and spirit of the community.” -Janna Bass. Janna has exemplified what the Chambers meaning of “family” is, and this is something I hope to continue to do through my journey here at the Chamber. Congratulations to the Chamber’s Member of the Week, A Peaceful Path. Located on 820 College Street in Clinton, A Peaceful Path offers healing alternatives through meditation, acupuncture, sound therapy, massage, Reiki, reflexology and crystal therapy. A Peaceful Path also offers hand-blended herbal teas, essential oils, gifts and much more. While touring Bonnie‘s new location we learned about some of her events that are upcoming. “Mystic Chat” book discussion group is coming up on Tuesday, June 23rd, at 6:45pm where the doors will open at a free cost at 6:15 p.m.

This is a relaxed yet lively event for those interested in exploring something a little more cosmic. Group members will read and discuss perspective-stretching New Consciousness authors. This month they will begin ‘Anastasia: The Ringing Cedars’. Books are available for purchase in the retail shop or online through websites that sell books or your favorite book store. The event is open to ages 15 and up. For more information about A Peaceful Path, please contact Bonnie Augustine at 910-990-3706, e-mail or visit

I also want to continue to encourage the Young Professionals of Sampson to get involved with our Young Professionals organization. The Clinton-Sampson Chamber of Commerce is excited to announce the establishment of a Young Professionals group within Sampson County.

Young Professionals of Sampson County is a sub-organization of the Clinton-Sampson Chamber of Commerce with the mission to connect young professionals, engage within the community and advance in leadership development to be the leaders of tomorrow. As young professionals within the age range of 22 to 40 come together to Connect, Engage and Advance, we look forward to the establishment and growth of this organization. Our kick-off event is scheduled for Thursday, June 25 at 6 p.m. located at Oasis. Click on our “Young Professionals” tab on our Chamber website to find membership and sponsorship applications. As always, feel free to contact the Chamber at 910-592-6177 with any questions you may have.
