Two people arrested on misdemeanor charges last week are now facing more serious offenses after being found in possession of meth at the Sampson County Detention Center, sheriff authorities said.
Both were brought in on outstanding warrants and during the booking process, officers found meth hidden in their possession, Sampson Sheriff’s Lt. Marcus Smith said.
On Friday, Starla Ann Redd, 32, of N.C. 50 South, Newton Grove, was charged with possession of a controlled substance on jail premises, possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia, as well as failure to appear on out-of-county charges of simple assault, misdemeanor larceny and injury to personal property.
Her bond was set at $25,000 secured for the drug charges. She received $2,700 bond on the misdemeanor offenses
She was initially arrested at the 1500 block of Harnett-Dunn Highway, Newton Grove, reports state.
A Turkey man is facing charges in a similar case.
On Tuesday, Jan. 3, Jeremy Carl Bishop, 41, of 468 Lake Artesia Road, Turkey, was charged with possession of a controlled substance on jail premises and possession of methamphetamine after being found in possession of the drug, according to reports. He was facing charges of driving while license revoked and expired registration card/tag.
He received $500 for those offenses and $10,000 secured bond for the drug charges.
