Two men being sought in connection with a recent rash of break-ins in the Bass Lake Road and Dixie Road area turned themselves in to Sampson County Sheriff’s authorities Wednesday.

James Tyler Marshburn, 20, of 3539 Turkey Hwy., Clinton, and Ronald D’Andre Carter, 18, of 4273 Cabin Museum Road, Turkey were served outstanding warrants in connection with break-ins to vehicles, outbuildings and one residence last month.

Both men were charged with two counts of breaking and entering of a building, four counts of breaking and entering of a motor vehicle, larceny after breaking and entering of a residence, felony larceny, two counts of felony possession of stolen goods and three counts of misdemeanor possession of stolen goods. Marshburn was also served an additional charge of felony financial card fraud and Carter received an additional charge of possession of firearm by felon.

Secured bonds for each were set at $175,000.

On Jan. 24, the Sheriff’s Office received multiple reports of break-ins that occurred in the area with several items stolen. Investigators immediately launched a criminal probe into the reported incidents and within a few days were able to gather enough probable cause to obtain warrants on three suspects connected to the incidents, sheriff’s authorities said Tuesday.

The arrests of Marshburn and Carter come on the heels of Monday’s arrest of John Austin Carter, 23, of 1526 Ozzie Road, Clinton, who received similar charges and was placed in the Sampson County Detention Center under $75,000 secured bond. At that time, the Sheriff’s Office urged the public to share any information they had on the whereabouts of the other two men, noting outstanding warrants on file.

According to the N.C. Department of Public Safety, Ronald Carter was convicted in March 2016 for disseminating or exhibiting harmful material to minors, a felony offense, stemming from an October 2014 incident. He was given a suspended sentence and two years of probation, which is still active. No prior record was found for the other two men.
