A group of mosquito fighters are working to make sure the outdoors is a fun place for their clients.
Based out of Dunn, Mosquito Joe of the Sandhills, offers control services for residential and commercial properties such as daycares, schools, campgrounds athletic fields and parks. Technicians visit a location every 21 days and set up a barrier for mosquitoes. Treatments are also offer services to control ticks and fleas also.
Anne Johnson, co-owner, is looking forward to serving clients.
“We live in an area where mosquitoes are pretty rampant,” Johnson said. “The season runs through April through October for mosquito control. People want to be outside of their homes and be active.”
That need is where their motto “Outside is Fun Again” comes into play. In addition to having to squash pesky mosquitoes, Johnson said proper treatment may prevent mosquito born viruses such as West Nile and Zika viruses.
In addition to the barrier service, the Mosquito Joe also offers a misting system and the all-natural mosquito control treatment, which repels mosquitoes for two weeks at a time.
Through her family, Johnson learned a lot about the franchise. Her daughter Julie Green, is a member of the corporate marketing team. Johnson once served as an office manager for location in the Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill area. Now, she running the location with her stepson Jonathan Johnson. Together, they have many year of customer service. Mike Braun is also on the team as Field Services Manager.
Mosquito Joe locations are independently owned franchises with trained and certified technicians who meet state guidelines. The business offers services in other states outside of North Carolina as well. Some of the locations are Grant, Ala.; Cumberland, R.I.; and Atlanta.
