This is the week that over 95 percent of the teenagers in our county and surrounding counties have been anxiously awaiting. What’s got our youth so stirred up? It just so happens that Angela Martin has announced auditions for “Disney’s High School Musical” this weekend.

Show up at the Sampson Community Theater on Saturday July 11 at 7 p.m. or Sunday July 12 at 2 p.m. and see if you can snag a part in this musical that is all about teenagers. If you know what role you want to audition for, be prepared to sing an appropriate song. Angela had initially only planned one audition date but due to numerous requests she made plans for a Saturday audition also. These roles are filled quickly so be sure you get there on time. For grades 9 through 12.

Dr. L.J. Carr was so pleased with her casts in “101 Dalmatians” that she had the following comments at its closure. “It is very heartwarming to see our youth have successful stage experiences. It is pure joy! I love to watch each child grow with their confidence and am very proud of each and every one of them. It takes a commitment to perform in a show. Our entire cast was made up of children so that commitment also had to come from their parents. We appreciate the support our community has to keep our theatre alive and able to offer our county the opportunity for theatre year-round. The lifelong skills that are learned to problem solve and think on your feet that comes from performing live theatre can not be described adequately but must be felt and experienced on stage. I appreciate the chance to work with these great children.”

The Board is in the process of lining up shows for our 2016 season. If you have a favorite show you would like to see call us at 592-8653 and leave us a message. It’s possible your suggestion will be seen on the big stage of the Sampson Community Theater next season.

Thoughts until next week:

You do not need a parachute to skydive.

You only need a parachute to skydive twice.

You’re never too old to learn something stupid.

A person is about as big as the things that make them angry.
