Students at Harrells Christian Academy have a place at the table on issues and areas of the school that affect them. Ten places, in fact: ten prefect positions are filled each year by rising seniors who demonstrate strong character and leadership potential in the areas of academics, athletics, spiritual life, community service, admissions, and co-curricular life. The following students have been selected to serve as prefects in the 2017-2018 school year:
Head Prefect — Miranda Wells of Rose Hill will lead the Prefect Board, represent the student body, and serve as student liaison to the Headmaster.
Academic Prefects — Kaleb Jessup of Turkey and Brayden Sutton of Clinton will organize peer tutoring and group study sessions, and help to develop academic programming for the student body
Athletic Prefects — Dontravis Barfield of Grifton and Marlee Scronce of Wallace will take responsibility for school spirit, organize fan events at games, and work with team captains on leadership initiatives.
Admissions Prefects — Shaquor Newkirk of Harrells and Abbigail Clark of White Lake will lead the student ambassador program and work with the Director of Advancement on admissions program initiatives.
Co-Curricular Prefect — Caroline Jones of Kenansville will organize dances and events in order to build community at all levels of the school.
Spiritual Life Prefect — Elliott Madden of Elizabethtown will assist with chapel programs, lead prayer initiatives, and help with community outreach on faith.
Community Service Prefect — Kyra Gensel of Clarkton will help organize community service projects and initiatives at all levels.
Now in its third year, HCA’s prefect program is designed to develop real-world leadership skills in prefects who then mentor their peers in committees and everyday school life.
