Sampson County Sheriff’s authorities are investigating two separate armed robbery incidents reported this week, one a hold-up at a Turkey convenience store and the other a stabbing and assault on a man who was reportedly working on his vehicle on the side of Reedsford Road.
The convenience store robbery was reported just after 6 p.m. Tuesday.
Deputies responded to the Kwik Stop at 8256 Turkey Hwy., Turkey, in reference to an armed robbery. Upon arrival, they spoke with the clerk, who stated an unknown black male entered the store wearing a mask and brandishing a firearm. At gunpoint, he took money from the cash register and then fled on foot.
An undisclosed sum of cash was taken, along with Newport cigarettes, reports state.
The suspect, believed to be a black male, about 5 feet, 5 inches tall, fled from the store on foot, traveling east. No further information was available and the case remains under investigation.
Reedsford Road robbery
In a separate incident the day before, deputies responded to a report of a stabbing victim at the intersection of Byrd-Yancey-Bass Road and Reedsford Road.
That report was made at 3:21 p.m. Monday. The victim was listed as Taliferro Blue, 44, of Rocky Mount. Initial reports describe the suspect as “stabbing the victim several times and robbing him.”
“The victim reported he had pulled over on the side of the road to work on his vehicle when he was approached by an unknown black male,” Sheriff’s Lt. Marcus Smith said, relaying reports. “The victim reported the unknown male then assaulted him and robbed him of his wallet, which contained $20.”
“Sometime during the altercation, the victim received minor injuries as a result of a stab wound,” Smith continued. “The victim reported the suspect fled the scene and no further information could be provided.”
