Second cast to hit SCT stage

By: By Bruce Caldwell - Contributing columnist

Cast “A” of “Seussical” finished its fourth performance this past Sunday afternoon in front of an enthusiastic audience that was near “standing room only” status and which cheered and applauded each actor as they took their final bows.

The audience saw first-hand some of the amazing talent being developed in our and surrounding counties. The Cat In The Hat (also known as Coleman Simpson), Jojo (Simon Ussery) and Horton the Elephant (Jarrett Bennett) got the loudest and most prolonged approval, as well they should. Coleman was sweating profusely Saturday afternoon due to his costume and his vigorous activity plus the heat from the stage lights. Robert New did his share of jitter bugging during the show which the audience really liked.

Cast “B” will now take over the stage beginning at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 25, with other shows at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 26, and matinees at 2:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

We are grateful to Performance Dodge/Ford or their sponsorship of “Seussical”.

The rumor is circulating that one show being planned for 2018 is one we produced back in February 2013 and which was one of the most popular shows we ever offered our audiences. As soon as we can obtain the rights to the play more information will be forth coming.

We urge you to get your tickets early at Inkspot or Matthew’s Gifts as we expect sellouts of some of the shows. This is one show you don’t want to miss and you have eight chances only remaining!!

Thoughts until next week

A recent study has found women who carry a little extra weight live longer than men who mention it.

Just remember, once you’re over the hill you begin to pick up speed.

My goal for 2016 was to lose just 10 pounds … only 15 to go.
