HARRELLS — In a few weeks, the town’s park will be filled with classic cars and families having a good time together.

North Gate Lodge No. 576 and Maggie L. Strong No. 639 of Harrells Masonic PHA, is hosting its annual Car Show and Family Day from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 16, at 45 Park Street, Harrells. There will be no rain date.

Nicholas Maynor, an organizer and member of North Gate Lodge No. 576, is looking forward to the event, which raises funds for the organization. He said one of the reasons for the event is to bring the community together through the car show and other activities.

“We used to have just the car show, but now we’re trying to have more of family atmosphere for it,” Maynor said. “It’s a good time for people to come together and fellowship.”

Some of the features include a cake walk, 50/50 drawing, penny social, games for kids, yard sales and a 3-point shootout. There will also be raffles for a 55 inch television, $200 and $100.

The upcoming event in September will be the organization’s second time hosting the event in Harrells.

“We’re expecting it to be a lot bigger,” he said. “It’s something for the Harrells community to get involved in. Not only our community, but surrounding ones as well.”

The cost for vendors is $100 and booth space is available at $35 for non-vendors. The cruise around will begin at 9:30 a.m. and registration for the contest is scheduled for 1o to 11 a.m. Judging will follow from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Maynor said a variety of antique and classic cars are invited to the festivities.

Entry is free for the public, but food and drinks will be available for sale.

“We welcome the public to come out, enjoy it and have a good time,” he said.
