The Sampson County Sheriff’s officials are investigating two robberies, one at a store in Newton Grove and the other of an individual on Byrd-Yancey-Bass Road.

Just before 10:30 p.m. Saturday, deputies responded to 55 Fast Stop Mart, located on Mount Olive Drive (N.C. 50), in reference to an armed robbery. The clerk told them that an unknown black male entered the business with a firearm and demanded the money from the register.

The clerk complied with the suspect’s demand and after stealing the money, fled the store on foot, according to sheriff’s reports. An undisclosed sum of money was reported stolen as a result.

In the other incident, reported just before 10:30 p.m. Sunday, a Clinton teenager stated that he was robbed of a book bag and bandana while on Byrd-Yancey-Bass Road.

The teen was reportedly visiting a residence in that area when he was approached by people at a residence in the 300 block of Byrd-Yancey-Bass. The suspects brandished a firearm and stole the items before the teen left the residence and contacted the Sheriff’s Office.

The investigation into both incidents is ongoing. Those with information can call the Sampson County Sheriff’s Office at 910-592-4141.
