Duplin Sheriff’s Department offering safety training

The Duplin County Sheriff’s Office Professional Development Section is offering training that will assist places of worship with creating safety plans to help keep citizens safe during worship services and minimize harm done in the event of an active shooter or other crisis.

Some of the topics discussed in the training materials include:

• Conducting a Security Risk Assessment

• Developing a Place of Worship Safety Plan

• What to do during the Critical Incident

• What to do immediately after the Critical Incident

The Duplin County Sheriff’s Office believes it is very important for congregations to feel safe in their house of worship. All pastors, church leaders and church members are welcome to attend one of these community events in their area. Leaders of churches and places of worship who have questions or wish to learn more about this community event in Duplin County should contact Lt.
