Becky Spell Vann made a promise to God in 2006, and as a woman who keeps her word, she fulfilled that promise and has now published her second book, “Love You More”.
In 2011, Vann’s first book, “Rise Up, Recount Love,” was published as a way to build the ministry Tim’s Gift. While Vann says she had the blessing of giving away many copies of the book, the thoughts of a second book filled her head, but a busy life put those thoughts on hold.
According to Vann, the journey to publish her second book began one afternoon in October 2017, when she delivered a walker to the medical clinic and was asked about writing her second book.
Enlisting the help of Adam Bowker, a student at North Carolina State University and a member of Vann’s church, that book became a reality in three months and is now available for purchase.
“This book shares love stories about people God puts in our path,” Vann shared. “The focus is reminding those reading to live a life close to the Lord and their loved ones.”
The 285 page book is filled with 72 short stories. Some of those have been published in Vann’s weekly newspaper column, while others are new and recently written.
Vann stays strong in the belief that this book was a divine calling, and only happened as way to remind others that everyday is a gift that should be cherished. The stories also show the importance of being an encouragement for others.
“When we can come together, there is no limit to what we can do,” Vann said.
“Love You More” is a saying Vann shared with her second husband, James. Many of the stories in the second book are about Vann and her relationship with James, while her first book was mostly about her first husband, Tim, and their families.
“I knew this was supposed to be the title because it’s what God would say to us,” Vann explained.
The book’s cover was designed by Hope Smith at Art of Hope. Both Smith and Vann feel the cover is something different that shows God’s amazing love through abstract art.
“God’s love isn’t black and white,” Vann said. “His love is very abstract.”
On the cover, Vann said there are three images of a person and a heart. Those three images, she explained, represent the Father, Son and Holy Ghost.
“I pray people read this book to not only support the Tim’s Gift ministry, but read it with an open heart that will help them build relationships with others.”
The book will be available today during the annual Rise Up event at the Sampson County Agri-Exposition Center. Vann, Smith and Bowker will all be available for any questions regarding the book or design.
