As our weather warms up, so do rehearsals for “Hairspray” at the Sampson Community Theater. In three short weeks this popular stage play will open for the first of 10 performances. There is much to be done before the opening, such as lines and lyrics to learn, dance steps to practice over and over, sets to build, costumes and props to be obtained, backdrops and side panels to be painted, tickets and programs to be printed and 999 other chores which, includes cleaning the popcorn machine.
Some of the characters in “Hairspray” include Lucas Jackson as Corny Collins. Lucas has been in many of our productions and his efforts have resulted in a scholarship that will enable him to attend college. “Penny” is being portrayed by Erica Miller whose has given us many exciting performances over the last several years and who can forget her performance as “Snoopy” in our production of “Your a Good Man, Charlie Brown” where she did a solo song and dance number entitled “Suppertime” that was awesome.
Get your tickets early at Matthew’s Gifts or at Inkspot. The box office will be open for one hour before each performance so come early and get the seat you want. Performance Dodge/Ford are the sponsors and we thank them for being so civic minded.

Thoughts until next week
We would accomplish many more things if we did not think of them as impossible.
Yesterday is not ours to recover, but tomorrow is ours to win or lose.
Life is 10 percent what happens to you and 90 percent how you react to it.
