MOUNT OLIVE — Bryan DeBose of Wilmington, N.C., has been elected president of the University of Mount Olive (UMO) Alumni Board. His official duties will begin July 1.
“Bryan brings energy, enthusiasm, fresh ideas, valued leadership, and passion for his alma mater to his role as President of the Alumni Board,” stated Hope Fields, director of Alumni Relations.
DeBose graduated from UMO in 2011 with a bachelor’s degree in business management, having attended the Wilmington location. Since that time, he has served the Alumni Board in several capacities including secretary, vice president and president-elect. He has participated in numerous committees including Homecoming, Winter Glitz and An Evening with UMO.
Having worked in sales most of his adult life, DeBose understands the importance of building and maintaining relationships. “If I had to choose a particular platform as Alumni Board President, it would be to bridge the gap between the traditional campus graduates and the location graduates. As a nontraditional alumnus, I would like to stress that all are welcome and there is a place for everyone. We need the participation of all alumni in order to have a strong alumni association.”
DeBose also believes in the importance of giving back.
“I believe it is important to give back to the University of Mount Olive both financially, as well as with your time and participation,” he stated. “We have all been given an incredible opportunity to graduate from such a great university. We need to give back to help pave the way for those behind us. Many of us, myself included, may not have been fortunate enough to finish what we had started if it were not for UMO and the program which allowed us to complete our goal.”
DeBose and his wife, Sabra, have been married for 19 years. He works with Owens Insurance and Financial Services. He attends Carvers Creek Methodist Church and is involved in the local theatre community.
