Mark your calendars for next Friday at 7:30 p.m. because that date and time is when the curtains on the stage of the Sampson Community Theater will part to present the first of 10 performances of “Hairspray”.

The cast has been hard at work in the rehearsals that began when it was cold weather but they now wear much cooler clothing than they did earlier.

“Hairspray” is a popular musical comedy and you will be entertained by the likes of Aaron Batts who is playing the part of Edna Turnblad and Guy Padgett who is Edna’s husband. The family also includes Tracy Turnblad (Logan Tart), all three playing their roles as they did in 2013 when we first produced the show. There are many songs and much dancing in this show so be prepared to be blown away by the talent we have in Sampson County.

We wish to thank Performance Dodge/Ford for their sponsorship of “Hairspray” and we suggest you get your tickets early at Inkspot or Matthew’s Gifts. The box office will be open for an hour before each performance so come early to get the seat you want.

Thoughts until next week

You can be the ripest, juiciest peach in the world and there’s still going to be somebody who hates peaches.

Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.

Everything has its beauty but not everyone sees it … Confucius
